Music Without Borders vol.1
22 January 2010, 19h00, Yodobashi Church, Obara Memorial Chapel, Shin-Okubo
Naoko Kikuchi performs my 2008 solo koto piece Myself in the Disguise of an Ancient Goddess, with a text by iconic gay poet Takahashi Mutsuo, as part of the first concert of the Music Without Borders group.
Music Without Borders is a collective consisting of five young composers from four different countries on three continents. We seek to explore the similarities and differences between composers of different cultural backgrounds, and encourage intercultural exchange.
For our first concert, we have written works for Otonari, a trio of talented musicians whose instrumentation reflects similar concerns to our own. The members of Otonari are Naoko Kikuchi (koto), Yoshiko Hannya (viola), and Masumi Yoshikawa (soprano).
Please contact musicwithoutborders5@gmail.com to reserve tickets.
